CLIMATE JUSTICE
1.Women inclusion for Climate Justice Project LAWA has been implementing a 5-year project which has ended this year in June 2025. The project with the name ‘Women inclusion for Climate Justice project’ was a project supported by Akina Mama wa Afrika (AMWA) under the auspices of Voices for Climate Action (VCA). The Program ensured that by the end of the project 2025 , local civil society and underrepresented groups will have taken a central role as creators facilitators and advocates of innovative and inclusive climate solutions is conducting the awareness raising sessions and trainings in Lamu targeting grassroots women including youth from villages highly affected by climate change to inform them on the development projects in Lamu which includes LAPSSET, coal power plant and oil gas projects their impacts to the environment and natural resources they depend on. The communities are also trained on natural resource rights, how to advocate for climate justice and the rights and roles of women in climate action.
2. African Activists for climate Justice Project – AACJ – NATURAL JUSTICE With the support of Natural Justice, we implemented the AACJ Project which main aim was to amplify the voices of people at the frontline of climate justice in Africa, we carried out several community awareness meetings, training of environmental Human rights defenders on strategies and tactics to address the threat of defenders, carried out radio talk shows and theatre performance to relay climate justice narratives
3. Right to Say No Project- R2SN – WOMIN
Through the support from WOMIN Carried out Mapping exercise framework to support the Right to Say No – R2SN
campaign in East Africa, and collaborating work in sensitization and training at national level to support the R2SN

4. Green Grant Funding focused on advocating for policies through empowering women to take an active leadership role. The project focused on the role of women in climate change, their rights and also the capacity building of women.
.Kenya Civil Society Platform of Oil and Gas – KCSPOG is an organization advocating for the sustainable oil & Gas sector in Kenya, we have had active engagements in the oil and gas sector so as to enhance women’s capacity in the decision-making process.
6. BCP PROJECT – SIEMENPUU FOUNDATION
Community land protection Program in Lamu County – this was a project designed to Develop the Bio Cultural community protocol Tool. This project came to an end in 2024,
having developed and launched the BIO-CULTURAL TOOL and MAP. The BCP highlighted all the natural resources found in lamu and the idgenious knowledge to protect the resources. Through the BCP and MAP the community is aware of their resources and the
need to conserve it.
7. BUILDING CLIMATE FEATURES IN LAMU supported by SOUTH SOUTH NORTH this project aims to identify, investigate and document all the climate risks, challenges and opportunities brought about by climate change in Lamu. This documentation will be done in form of a documentary, book and map.
